The spectacularly picturesque county of Devon provided the backdrop to Lauren and Phil’s beautiful wedding.
We were honoured to be the official photographers for Lauren and Phil’s special day. Phil is a professional videographer and so we needed to be certain that his usual high standards would be reproduced on the photography front by us! Thankfully, achieving fantastic images is made somewhat easier with a great looking couple and fabulous locations, so we were fortunate enough that all these boxes were ticked for us (yes, Phil scrubbed up pretty well for the occasion!)
The wedding ceremony was held at St. Andrew’s Church, in a quaint little town called Colyton, with one of the nicest Rectors we have ever met. Reverend Hilary was very accommodating and allowed us a good degree of freedom in moving around the church during the ceremony. The lighting was somewhat variable (as with most churches) but there happened to be a wonderful pocket of sunlight that we used to create a glorious moment with Lauren just after the ceremony.
Speaking of sunlight, we were blessed with not only good weather throughout the day, but with a most spectacular golden sunset – an opportunity too good to miss! So we stole Lauren and Phil away from the guests at the reception to capture a few unforgettable shots of them in the glorious sunshine in the gardens of Combe House.
Combe House was a beautifully romantic venue for the wedding reception, with historic charm and character that befitted an award-winning Grade I listed Elizabethan luxury country manor.
A rather unique feature of Combe House is that there are 3 banquet rooms set up for the wedding breakfast, each room representing one course of the banquet. Lauren and Phil would move from one room to the next after each course, allowing them to mingle with the guests more intimately.
One of the centrepieces at the reception was the stunning contemporary wedding cake which was created, designed and hand-made by Phil’s dad Bernard. It was indeed a beautiful and unique piece of pâtissier artistry!
Mark and Fiona, the managers of Combe House, were wonderfully friendly, warm and hospitable – we were told this is a common Devonshire trait! Many thanks to them for their support during the day. Feel free to visit them at www.combehousedevon.com.
Our own warm congratulations go out to Lauren and Phil on a wedding day to remember!
